Full casting has been announced for Caroline Byrne's production of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew which runs at Shakespeare's Globe from 13 May to 6 August 2016.

Featuring an all Irish company, the production marks the centenary of the Easter Rising by revisiting 1916 Ireland and remembering the role of women in the fight for independence. The cast is lead by Kathy Rose O'Brien who plays Katherine and Edward MacLiam who will play Petruchio.

The full company will include Amy Conroy, Louis Dempsey, Imogen Doel, Sean Fox, Colm Gormley, Aaron Heffernan, Genevieve Hulme-Beaman, Raymond Keane, Gary Lilburn, Molly Logan, Helen Norton and Ayoola Smart.

"Bianca is excited by the prospect and Kate horrified at losing her independence. Caroline's production transports sparring couple Petruchio and Kate into a distinctly Irish setting."

Kathy Rose O'Brien's stage credits include 'The Birthday Party' (Bristol Old Vic) and 'Leaves' (Druid Theatre Co and Royal Court). In television, she is best known for her roles in 'Whistleblower' (RTE), 'Chasing Shadows' (ITV) and 'Inspector George Gently' (BBC).

Edward MacLiam is best known for his screen work, including 'Angel, Run and Jump' and the recurring role of Greg Douglas in BBC One's 'Holby City'.

Tickets for all productions in the 'Wonder' Season are now on sale.
