Hampstead Theatre Main House new season January - April

The Hampstead Theatre, an Off West End venue in Swiss Cottage, north London, has announced two new productions for its main house in 2013.

Di and Viv and Rose, by Amelia Bullmore, from 17 Jan to 23 Feb 2013. Directed by Anna Mackmin, designed by Paul Wills, lighting by Jason Taylor, choreography by Scarlett Mackmin , sound by Simon Baker. Starring Tamzin Outhwaite (Di), Gina McKee (Viv), Anna Maxwell Martin (Rose). Exploration of friendship's impact on life and life's impact on friendship. Aged 18, three women join forces. Life is fun. Living is intense. Together they feel unassailable. (This production ran at the Hampstead Downstairs in Sep/Oct 2011))

Longing, based on two short stories by Anton Chekhov, adapted by William Boyd, from 28 Feb to 13 April 2013. Directed by Nina Raine, designed by Lizzie Clachan , lighting by James Farncombe , sound by Gareth Fry. When Kolia is invited to visit his oldest friends on their Estate in the country he anticipates a pleasant break from Moscow life. But as the comedy of provincial life plays out around him, he finds himself adrift in a miasma of false expectations, missed opportunities and unspoken passions.
