In Basildon extends to 5 April at Royal Court Theatre.

David Eldridge's In Basildon, has extended almost 2 weeks to Thursday 5 April 2012, at the Royal Court Theatre Downstairs.

The play opened on 22 Feb 2012, following previews from 16 Feb, to good notices from the critics: Wittily enjoyable (Londontheatre.co.uk); Gloriously rich...and politically provocative play. (Independent); Finely crafted. (Standard).

Cast includes Linda Bassett (Doreen), Max Bennett (Tom), Debbie Chazen (Jackie), Phil Cornwell (Len), Christian Dixon (Reverend David Williams), Wendy Nottingham (Pam), Lee Ross (Barry), Ruth Sheen (Maureen), Peter Wight (Ken) , Jade Williams (Shelley).

Directed by Dominic Cooke, designed by Ian MacNeil, costume designer Nicky Gillibrand, lighting designer Guy Hoare, Sound Designer Paul Arditti.

Len's on his death bed and the family gather to say their final farewells. His sisters still aren't speaking after nearly 20 years, his nephew's trying for a baby - and a bigger house, while his best mate Ken remembers 'Bas-vegas' when it was a village. As the spread is laid out and the ham sandwiches sit next to the wreaths, it's hard to see who's hungry and who's just greedy. An epic family drama exploring inheritance and the myth of place.
