In Phantom of the Opera, Robyn North and Leila Benn Harris to share the role of 'Christine'
For the first time in the history of Phantom of the Opera in London, the starring role of 'Christine' is being equally shared by two actresses.
Robyn North and Leila Benn Harris are now each playing four performances a week.
Both have recently been in the new production of "Evita" at the Adelphi Theatre. Robyn has already been the alternate 'Christine' in the London production of Phantom of the Opera and has also starred in the national tour of "Thoroughly Modern Millie". Leila starred as 'Carmen' in "Fame the Musical", both on tour and in the West End.
The show continues to feature Earl Carpenter (The Phantom), Michael Xavier (Raoul), Wendy Ferguson (Carlotta), Rohan Tickell (Piangi), James Barron (Monsieur Firmin), Sam Hiller (Monsieur André), Heather Jackson (Madame Giry) and Lyndsey Wise (Meg Giry).
Phantom of the Opera has been playing in London since 1986, and will celebrate its 21st London birthday on 9 October this year.
Worldwide Phantom of the Opera has grossed over £1.7 billion. The box office revenues are higher than any film or stage play in history, including "Titanic", "ET" and "Star Wars". It has been seen in at least 124 cities in 25 countries and played to over 100 million people.
Directed by Harold Prince, it has music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Charles Hart .
