Initial casting has been reported for the upcoming revival of Sandy Wilson's musical The Boy Friend, which, as previously announced, will be staged at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 22nd November 2019 to 7th March 2020.

Two-time Olivier Award winner Janie Dee is set to take on the role of Madame Dubonnet, alongside Tiffany Graves (as Hortense), Adrian Edmondson (as Lord Brockhurst), Issy van Randwyck (as Lady Brockhurst), Amara Okereke (as Polly), Jack Butterworth (as Bobby van Husen), and Dylan Mason (as Tony).

Set in Madame Dubonnet's French finishing school, the musical premiered in 1953 in the West End, running for over 2,000 performances, as well as transferring to Broadway where it starred newcomer Julie Andrews, who was spotted by the producers of the then-upcoming film My Fair Lady during the run.

Following the Menier's recent musical successes such as The Bridges of Madison County and the West End transfer of Fiddler on the Roof, this new London production - the first major revival of the musical in the last 10 years - is directed by Matthew White and choreographed by Bill Deamer. White previously helmed the Menier revivals of She Loves Me, Candide and Sweet Charity.

The creative team behind The Boy Friend features musical supervision & direction by Simon Beck, orchestrations by David Cullen, scenic design by Paul Farnsworth, lighting design by Paul Anderson, sound design by Gregory Clarke, and hair & wig design by Richard Mawbey.

The Boy Friend is at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 22nd November to 7th March 2020.
