King Lear extends one week to 26 Apr 03

William Shakespeare's King Lear, starring Timothy West as 'Lear' has been extended by one week to 26 April 2003 at the Old Vic Theatre.

The play opened 25 March 03 for a limited season to good notices from the popular press: THE EVENING STANDARD says, "An impressive evening." THE TIMES says, "This is a rich yet intricate performance.." THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "Unwin's production may ultimately lack the shuddering impact of a truly great Lear, but there are many unshowy moments that penetrate right to its heart."

The English Touring Theatre production is directed by Stephen Unwin , designed by Neil Warmington, with lighting by Bruno Poet.

Cast includes Timothy West (King Lear), Jessica Turner (Goneril), Catherine Kanter (Regan), Rachel Pickup (Codelia), Christopher Campbell (Cornwall), Garry Cooper (Kent), Michael Cronin (Gloucester), Nick Fletcher (Edgar), Domonic Rickhards (Edmund), David Cardy (The Fool), Grant Gillespie (Oswald), Robert Styles (Duke of Burgundy), David Glover (Gentleman), Steve Sarossy (King of France), Ashley Cook, John Finn.
