The Olivier Award-winning Best Musical Kinky Boots has announced a booking extension to 14 January 2017, taking the hit show into its second year in the West End.

The show began previews at the Adelphi Theatre on 21 August 2015, before an official opening on 15 September 2015 and was previously booking to September 2016.

At the 2016 Olivier Awards ceremony the musical was crowned 'Best Musical', along with awards for Best Costume Design (Gregg Barnes) and Best Actor in a Musical for 'Lola' Matt Henry.

The musical comedy, which features a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein and music and lyrics by Tony and two-time Grammy Award winner Cyndi Lauper, features Killian Donnelly and Matt Henry in the central characters 'Charlie' and 'Lola'.

Inspired by a true story and based on the Miramax film written by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth, Kinky Boots tells the story of Charlie Price who has reluctantly inherited his father's Northampton shoe factory. Trying to live up to his father's legacy and save the family business from bankruptcy, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola. A fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos, Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man he's meant to be. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible... and discovers that "when you change your mind, you can change the world."

The London production opened to strong reviews with critics praising the fun nature of the show as well as the strength of the central performances.

Kinky Boots is directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell and features set design by David Rockwell, costumes by Gregg Barnes, lighting by Kenneth Posner, sound design by John Shivers and musical supervision, arrangements & orchestrations by Stephen Oremus.

The London Cast Recording of the musical was recently released featuring the full original London cast.

Tickets for the new booking period are now on sale.
