La Cage Aux Folles transfers to Playhouse 20 Oct

The Menier Chocolate Factory production of La cage Aux Folles , is to transfer to the Playhouse Theatre, opening 30 Oct 2008, following previews from 20 Oct - booking to 10 Jan 2009

(This production was at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 27 Nov 2007 to 8 March 2008)

Douglas Hodge will be reprising the role of 'Albin', and is joined by Denis Lawson in the role of Georges (replacing Philip Quast who starred at the Menier)

It is again directed by Terry Johnson, with choreography by Lynne Page and the musical director is Nigel Lilley. It is designed by Tim Shortall with costumes by Matthew Wright.

Music and Lyrics by Jerry Herman, Book by Harvey Fierstein, based on the Play La Cage aux Folles by Jean Poiret.

The idyllic existence of Georges and the dazzling drag artiste Albin, star of the La Cage aux Folles club, is threatened when Georges' son announces his engagement to the daughter of a right-wing politician, who wants to close down the local colourful nightlife! With a visit from the prospective in-laws imminent, they all decide to take drastic action to hide their lifestyle...but can they keep it up?
