"Lies Have Been Told" transfers to Trafalgar Studios

Lies Have Been Told - An Evening With Robert Maxwell , By Rod Beacham , which ended a 6 week run at the New End Theatre on 5 Dec 2005, will transfer to the Trafalgar Studio 2, opening 11 Jan 2006, following preview from 10 Jan - running to 28 Jan 2006.

(This production has replaced " Basic Training" by Kahlil Ashanti, which was cancelled a few weeks ago)

Starring Philip York, it is directed by Alan Dossor, designed by Michael Taylor and produced by Andy Jordan Productions and the Dale Djerassi Production Company in association with the New End Theatre.

In 1991, Robert Maxwell disappeared from his luxury yacht whilst cruising in the Canary Islands. His body was later found floating in the ocean. Investigators discovered he had misappropriated hundreds of millions of pounds from his companies' pension plans to prop up his ailing empire. The official verdict was accidental drowning, but some commentators have suggested he committed suicide while others think he was murdered. Ignoring the controversy surrounding his death, Maxwell was given a funeral in Israel that would have befitted a Head Of State, and buried on the Mount Of Olives. Prime Minister Shamir eulogized: 'He has done more for Israel than can today be said.' Was Robert Maxwell the monster he's been painted or the victim of anti-semitism and snobbery? Let him try to persuade you of his point of view ... If you can believe a word he says!
