‘Matilda the Musical’ tickets available through May 2024

The seven-time Olivier-winning show continues at the Cambridge Theatre. Lauren Byrne currently plays Miss Honey in the Roald Dahl musical.

Based on the Roald Dahl novel of the same name, Matilda the Musical follows the titular child as she uses her powerful mind to help save the day at her school, Crunchem Hall. While at school, she forms a strong bond with her teacher, Miss Honey, as well as recalling vivid stories to her librarian Mrs Phelps.

After a world premiere in Stratford-upon-Avon, Matilda opened in the West End in 2011, winning seven Oliviers. The Matilda musical was recently adapted into a film, starring Emma Thompson as Miss Trunchbull. Find out more about Matilda the Musical in London.

Victoria Alsina, Maisie Mardle, Laurel Sumberg and Heidi Williams share the role of Matilda. Sophia Goodman will replace Maisie Mardle as one of the four Matildas on 14 March.

They’re joined by Lauren Byrne as Miss Honey, Elliot Harper as Miss Trunchbull, Landi Oshinowo as Mrs Phelps, and Rakesh Boury and Amy Ellen Richardson as Mr and Mrs Wormwood. We spoke to Byrne and Harper about starring in Matilda.

Dennis Kelly writes the original Matilda musical, and Tim Minchin provides original music and lyrics. Matthew Warchus directs, with scenic design by Rob Howell, choreography by Peter Darling, lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound by Simon Baker.
