‘Matilda the Musical’ tickets available through December 2023

Based on the Roald Dahl novel of the same name, Matilda the Musical follows the titular child as she uses her powerful mind to help save the day at her school, Crunchem Hall. Victoria Alsina, Maisie Mardle, Laurel Sumberg and Heidi Williams share the role of Matilda. They’re joined by Lauren Byrne as Miss Honey, Elliot Harper as Miss Trunchbull, Landi Oshinowo as Mrs Phelps, and Rakesh Boury and Amy Ellen Richardson as Mr and Mrs Wormwood. Dennis Kelly writes the original Matilda musical, based on Roald Dahl's novel, and Tim Minchin provides original music and lyrics. Matthew Warchus directs Matilda. The show features scenic design by Rob Howell, choreography by Peter Darling, lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound by Simon Baker.

A new film adaptation of Matilda will be released in 2022. The Matilda film is based on the stage adaptation currently playing in the West End. The Matilda film cast includes Emma Thompson as Miss Trunchbull and Alisha Weir as Matilda Womrwood. Matilda will be releaed in cinemas on 25 Nov. 2022.

How long has Matilda the Musical been playing in the West End?

Matilda the Musical opened in the West End in 2011. The musical began performances at the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from November 2010 to January 2011, and then transferred to the Cambridge Theatre. Matilda in the West End is currently in its 11th year.
