Michael Boyd to step down as RSC Artistic Director

Michael Boyd is to step down as the Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company next year, after 10 years in the job.

He said: "I have always said that it would take ten years to make a genuine difference in the life and the soul of the company, and though ten years will not be enough to achieve all that I would like, it will be time for me to pass the challenges on to a new Artistic Director."

The Board of the RSC are expected to be able to announce the new Artistic Director in the Spring of 2012.
