MYSTERY OF CHARLES DICKENS RETURNS TO WEST END

Peter Ackroyd's The Mystery of Charles Dickens, will return to the WEst End for a run of 3 weeks from 7th to 30th Mar 02 at the Albery Theatre.

The show wil be performed Tues - Sat at 7.30pm, with Matinees on Thur, Sat & Sun at 3pm (Note: There are no performances on 12th & 13th Mar 02)

This one man show features Simon Callow. It is directed by Patrick Garland, designed by Christopher Woods with lighting by Rick Garland.

This play delves into the life, times and mind of Charles Dickens. The play reveals his public successes and private tragedies through Simon Callow who recreates many of Dickens famous fictional characters from Mr Micawber to Mrs Gamp, Bill Sykes to Miss Haversham.

This play origonally opended inthe West End at the Comedy theatre in Aug 2000, before transfering to the Albery on Oct 00 where it ran to Jan 01.

It received good notices from the popular press when it opened in 2000: THE EVENING STANDARD said, "Ackroyd and Callow display Dickens' irrepresssible, comic buoyancy." SUNDAY TIMES said, "Simon Callow at his most rebust, inventive, lyrical, sulphurous and controlled: a feast for anyone interested in Dickens or the art of performance" He goes on to say, "Enchanting - exciting - funny - serious - wonderful - entertaining."THE DAILY TELEGRAPH said, "WHAT a splendidly old-fashioned, hugely enjoyable show this is.
