Nadia P Manzoor's Burq Off! at The Cockpit Theatre

Paprika Productions presents Burq Off!, written and performed by Nadia P Manzoor, at The Cockpit Theatre, in Marylebone, north London, from 9 to 14 Sep 2014.

Directed and developed by Tara Elliot, Burq Off! is an autobiographical one-woman show exploring what it takes to evolve past the veil. Nadia P Manzoor plays 21 different characters, including a domineering father, soulful mother, saucy English friend and Islamic studies teachers. Nadia was born in Chicago to Muslim parents, grew up in Hertfordshire and later moved to New York.

The glowing promise of modern London versus the glum realities of a conservative Pakistani Muslim home are punctuated by Bollywood dance moves and at least one blackout drinking incident.
