New casting announced for Kinky Boots in the West End

New casting has today been announced for the West End production of Kinky Boots which continues to run at the Adelphi Theatre where it is currently booking to 24 March 2018.

Understudy Lola Simon-Anthony Rhoden will assume the role full time from 10 July, taking over from Olivier Award-winner Matt Henry. He will be joined by Verity Rushworth as Lauren and David Hunter who continues in the role of Charlie Price.

Further new cast members to the production include Jed Berry, Momar Diagne, Lauren Drew, Dale Evans, Jordan Fox, Rosie Glossop, Keith Higham, Ben Jennings, Georgia Louise, Emma Odell, Antony Reed and Tom Scanlon.

With a book by Harvey Fierstein and score by Cyndi Lauper, Kinky Boots the Musical is based on the British film of the same name. Originally opening on Broadway in 2013 it went on to win the Tony Award for Best New Musical. The original London production opened for previews on 21 August 2015 before an official opening on 15 September 2015 and won the 2016 Olivier Award for Best New Musical along with awards for Henry in the lead role of Lola and Best Costume Design.

Kinky Boots opened to solid reviews, with great praise for the lead cast and ensemble: "a terrific hard-working ensemble that bring this show to gleaming, authentic life and exhilarating fun" (London Theatre); "it won me over through the quality of the lead performances" (Guardian); "It's good fun" (Independent); "a few jolly moments" (Daily Mail).

Directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell, it features set design by David Rockwell, costumes by Gregg Barnes, lighting by Kenneth Posner, sound design by John Shivers and musical supervision, arrangements & orchestrations by Stephen Oremus.

Kinky Boots tickets are now on sale to 24 March 2018.
