The Cat in the Hat to play at the Turbine Theatre this Christmas

A stage adaptation of Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat will be performed at the Turbine Theatre later this year, it has been announced.

The Cat in the Hat will play at the Turbine Theatre over the Christmas period from 11th December to 11th January 2020.

Based on Dr Seuss' text and adapted by Katie Mitchell, the play follows Sally and her brother as they meet a cat wearing a red and white striped hat, with the trio having fun together one rainy afternoon.

Katie Mitchell's stage adaptation of The Cat in the Hat premiered at the National Theatre in 2009, later transferring to the Young Vic the following year. The production was last seen in London in 2015 at Pleasance Theatre.

The Cat in the Hat is directed by Lillie Collier, with design by David Shields. Details on a further creative team and casting forThe Cat in the Hat are to be announced.

The play will be performed as part of the inaugural season at the Turbine Theatre, which began with a production of Torch Song. The Turbine is now home to the UK premiere of High Fidelity.

The Cat in the Hat is at the Turbine Theatre from 11th December to 11th January 2020.
