New cast for The Kite Runner at the Playhouse Theatre

Casting has been announced for the return West End engagement of The Kite Runner, running at the Playhouse Theatre through to 26 August 2017, ahead of a UK tour that begins on 31 August 2017 and is set to visit 11 cities around the country.

New to the West End cast are David Ahmad, who takes on the pivotal role of the show's narrator, Amir, as well as Ravi Aujla, Umar Pasha  Jay Sajjid and Karl Seth. 

Returning members of the cast include Emilio Doorgasingh, (as Baba) and Andrei Costin (as Hassan), alongside Lisa Zahra, Ezra Khan, Bhavin Bhatt and Tabla musician Hanif Khan. Check out the production photos of the entire cast below.

Based on Khaled Hosseini's international best-selling novel this stage production has been adapted by Matthew Spangler. Opening in London following two previous regional runs and a UK tour, the show earned strong reviews including five stars from London Theatre: "It's a charmer as well as heartbreaking". The London production at the Wyndham's Theatre was seen by over 60,000 audience members and received nightly standing ovations.

It's a beautiful afternoon in Kabul and the skies are full of the excitement and joy of a kite flying tournament. Following its extended run at The Playhouse Theatre, the production will tour to Nottingham Playhouse, Glasgow Theatre Royal, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Cambridge Arts Theatre, Salford Lowry, Edinburgh King's Theatre, Sheffield Lyceum, Cheltenham Everyman, Bath, Brighton Theatre Royal and Exeter Northcott Theatre, with more dates to be announced.

The Kite Runner is directed by Giles Croft and produced in the West End by Martin Dodd for UK Productions and Derek Nicol & Paul Walden for Flying Entertainment.
