Carousel to close one month early on 20 June 2009

The Rodgers & Hammerstein 's musical Carousel, will close one month early at the Savoy Theatre, on 20 June 2009 (It was originally booking to 25 July)

This production opened at the Savoy Theatre 2 Dec 2008, following previews from 22 Nov, to good notices from the popular press: NICHOLAS DE JONGH for THE EVENING STANDARD says, Despite Lindsay Posner's old-fashioned production I was enchanted." MICHAEL BILLINGTON for THE GUARDIAN says, "Well-sung revival." BENEDICT NIGHTINGALE for THE TIMES says, "Captivated by maybe the finest score even Rodgers ever produced." CHARLES SPENCER for THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "Justice has been done to one of the greatest of all musicals."

The cast includes Lesley Garrett (Nettie), Jeremiah James (Billy Bigelow), Alexandra Silber (Julie Jordan).

Carousel is directed Lindsay Posner, designed by William Dudley , lighting by Peter Mumford, choreography by Adam Cooper, costumes by Deirdre Clancey, orchestrations by Larry Blank and musical direction by David Firman.

Carousel is the story of the love affair between Billy Bigelow, a smooth-talking carousel barker, and Julie Jordan, a naïve young mill worker. Songs include The Carousel Waltz, If I Loved You, June is Bustin' Out All Over and You'll Never Walk Alone.

It is produced by Kim Poster for Stanhope Productions, Michael Edward & Carole Winter, Tiger/WSZ, Stevens-O'Boyle, and Tulchin/Bartner/Ambassador Theatre Group in association with The Churchill, Bromley.
