Casting has been announced for The Beggar's Opera, a comedy by John Gay, which opens at the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park, 28 June 2011, following previews from 23 June - running to 23 July 2011.
Phil Daniels will play the role of Mr Lockit. He is best known as Kevin Wicks in Eastenders, Jimmy in Quadrophenia and narrating tracks on Blur’s Parklife album. Cast also includes David Caves (Macheath), Beverly Rudd (Lucy Lockit), Tim Frances (Mr Peachum - UPDATE JUNE 2011, will now be played by Jasper Britton), Janet Fullerlove (Mrs Peachum ), Flora Spencer-Longhurst (Polly Peachum), Akiya Henry (Suky Tawdry), Lucie Skeaping (Jenny Diver), Karen Anderson (Mrs Traipes’ Assistant), Jack Bannell (Ben Budge), Keith Dunphy (Matt of the Mint), Oliver Hoare (Filch), Rob McNeil (Gang), Fernanda Prata (Woman of the Town), Vinicius Salles (Gang), Frank Scantori (Jailer/Mrs Traipes).
