The Donmar Warehouse have announced full casting for their upcoming production of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui which stars Lenny Henry and runs from 21 April to 21 June 2017, with an official opening on 2 May.

Directed by Simon Evans the production will feature designs by Peter McKintosh, lighting by Howard Harrison, sound and composition by Ed Lewis and movement by Stephen Mear.

Alongside the previously announced Lenny Henry, the full cast will include Philip Cumbus, Lucy Eaton, Tom Edden, Lucy Ellinson, Simon Holland Roberts, Louis Martin, Justine Mitchell, Gloria Obianyo, Michael Pennington, Guy Rhys and Giles Terera.

Bruce Norris' new translation of Bertolt Brecht's satirical masterpiece is set in Chicago, a city of jazz and gangsters, prohibition and poverty. Amongst the murk of the Great Depression, there's room for a small time crook like Arturo Ui to make a name for himself. Ui and his henchmen just want to look after you, to offer protection for workers, for jobs, for businesses. Nothing to fear. But a little bribery here, some harmless corruption there, and soon something much more dangerous takes hold.

Brecht's satire about the rise of a demagogue is part of the Donmar's 2017 Power Season, following Limehouse, a new play by Steve Waters which officially opens next week. The season continues with The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee Takes Oral Evidence on Whitehall's Relationship with Kids Company, a new musical with book and lyrics edited from the transcript of a House of Commons Select Committee evidence session by Hadley Fraser and Donmar Artistic Director Josie Rourke.

Tickets for The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui are now on sale.
