Mare Rider by Leyla Nazli with Kathryn Hunter at Arcola

Kathryn Hunter stars in Mare Rider, a new play by Leyla Nazli, at the Arcola Studio 1, a fringe venue in east London, from 22 Jan to 16 Feb 2013.

It is directed by Mehmet Ergen and designed by Matthew Wright.

Elka is the Mare Rider, subversive and vengeful baby-stealer, a timeless creature of myth, who inhabits our dreams. In the maternity ward of a London Hospital, Selma is stuck between other people's reality and her own. She's visited by Elka from afar, who takes her on a fantastical journey of dreams and fears - stealing wine, meeting seahorses and mermaids, and riding mares across meadows.
