A news season of work by female playwrights has been announced at the King's Head Theatre beginning in April.

The Islington theatre's senior producer Louisa Davis said that as a female theatremaker, it was "becoming more and more frustrating seeing so much stage time being given to male voices", and so the season - titled Who Runs the World? - was their way of "doing something about it".

Who Runs the World? will run from 24th April to 12th May, and features plays by Sarah Milton, Felicity Huxley-Miners, Laura McGrady, Paperclip Theatre and Daisy King.

Sarah Milton will perform in her piece Tumble Tuck, which is about a competitive swimmer called Daisy in a world where winning and medals matter, but she struggles to understand how to define herself a success. It runs for the entirety of the run of the season.

In the Shadow of the Mountain is Felicity Huxley-Miners piece about a woman facing a mental health crisis as she battles with Borderline Personality Disorder. It will be presented by Instinct Theatre and Quantum Frolic Theatre from 24th to 29th April.

Sleepless Theatre will present Laura McGrady's Babybox from 1st to 6th May. It is a comedy about the dysfunctional relationships between sibling, 'complete with all the ins and outs that come with having a vagina.'

On 7th May, Paperclip Theatre's Voices from the Deep will present a night of shorts set in Shakespearean verse tackling issues facing women across the world. They are written by Verift Fine Hosken, Rchel Archer, Samia Djilli and Jenny Richards.

NOF*CKSGIVEN is Daisy King's play about Stacy, who is always the last person standing at every party. Described as an "anti-slut-shaming, heart-warming tale of what it's like to be a fiercely independent woman", it will run from 8th to 12th May.
