The Hard Boiled Egg and the Wasp - Lion and Unicorn

The Hard Boiled Egg and the Wasp, a musical about the music hall star Dan Leno, at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre, a fringe venue in Kentish Town, north London, from 22 May to 10 Jun 2012.

Written by Andy Street and Jonathan Kydd. Designed by Alison Cartledge, with lighting by Phil Hunter.

It's 1904. The comedian Dan Leno has been confined to a lunatic asylum by his wife. But why has he been incarcerated? Is he mad? If not why is he there? What is the reason for his appalling headaches? If he doesn't improve might he face intrusive possible life ending surgery? Why does a young George Robey hope Dan's health deteriorates? And is the head of the asylum actually a man dressed as a woman?
