The Mentalists with Stephen Merchant - Wyndham's

Stephen Merchant will make his theatrical and West End debut in The Mentalists, a comedy by Richard Bean, at the Wyndham's Theatre, opening on 13 July 2015, following previews from 3 July, for a limited run until 26 September 2015. Tickets will go on general sale from 27 February 2015.

Merchant will play the role of Ted, alonsgide Steffan Rhodri as Morrie in this comic two hander. The production will be directed by Abbey Wright, with set design by Richard Kent and lighting by David Plater. The producers are Old Vic Productions, Smith & Brant Theatricals and Steven Harris in association with Jimmy Jewell Ltd.

Synopsis: "Holed up in a faceless Finsbury Park hotel room, Ted and Morrie are forced to confront the darker side of their unique relationship. Things unravel as the pressure mounts in this 'hilarious' and touching tale of friendship and utopian visions gone awry."

Stephen Merchant is best known for his collaborations with Ricky Gervais, including BBC television series "The Office", "Extras" and "Life's Too Short". Steffan Rhodri's recent London stage credits include "Posh" by Laura Wade and "Absent Friends" by Alan Ayckborn.

Playwright Richard Bean has enjoyed West End success with "One Man, Two Guvnors" and "Great Britain" and recently wrote the book for Made In Dagenham - The Musical, currently at the Adelphi Theatre.
