Whitehall Theatre to close in July 03

The Stage Newspaper has reported that 650-seat The Whitehall Theatre is to close when its current production, "Abigail's Party", finishes its run on 12 July 2003.

Ambassadors Theatre Group (ATG), who owns the theatre plans on keeping the theatre closed indefinitely as part of a 'cost-cutting' exercise. It is thought that the close will result in six staff redundancies.

It is not known if ATG, who bought The Whitehall Theatre when it took over Associated Capital Theatre in February 2000, intends to sell the theatre.
