Continuing the season of award-winning musicals being streamed on The Shows Must Go On! YouTube channel, this week's offering has been announced. The West End revival of 42nd Street is the latest musical to be streamed online, available to watch from 4 December.

The glossy, Golden Age musical follows Peggy Sawyer, a young woman who quickly rises through the ranks to become an actress. Taking over the leading role in a new musical, Peggy questions her decisions, but she eventually returns to the stage and becomes a star.

The cast includes Clare Halse as Peggy Sawyer, alongside Tom Lister as Julian Marsh and Philip Bertioli as Billy Lawlor. Sheena Easton played Dorothy Brock when the production opened, however Bonnie Langford can be seen as Dorothy in the filmed production.

42nd Street opened at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in March 2017, with a final performance on 5 Jan. 2019. In a review for LondonTheatre.co.uk, Dom O'Hanlon said: "Rarely have I seen a physical West End production of this standard, with the full depth of the magnificent Drury Lane stage utilised with set after set... This is a show that will certainly tap your troubles away and leaves you beaming from the inside out. Infectious musical theatre joy of the highest calibre."

42nd Street is available to watch on YouTube from 4 December at 7:30pm for 48 hours.
