Casting announced for London Musical Theatre Orchestra performance of Camelot

David Thaxton is set to lead the cast for London Musical Theatre Orchestra's upcoming performance of Lerner and Loewe's musical Camelot at the London Palladium next month.

Thaxton, an Olivier Award winner for his performance in Donmar Warehouse's Passion, will play Arthur in the show based on the legend of King Arthur on 6th October at the Palladium.

Guenevere will be played by Savannah Stevenson (Wicked), while Lancelot will be played by opera star Charles Rice.

Camelot will also feature Sam Swann (Jekyll & Hyde), Clive Carter (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again),  Celinde Schoenmaker (The Phantom of the Opera), Matthew McKenna (Sunset Boulevard), Emmanuel Kojo (Girl From the North Country), Oliver Savile (Wicked) and and Raphael Higgins-Humes (The Lion King).

The musical was first seen in London at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in August 1964, and was last seen in the West End over 30 years ago.

Its score features songs such as "If Ever I Would Leave You", "How To Handle A Woman", "The Lusty Month of May" and "Camelot".

The chorus will include Jake Byrom, Elissa Churchill, Charlotte Clitherow, Ed Court, Emma Fraser, Lee van Geelen, Erin Hair, Daniel Hall, Adam Hepworth, Matthew McDonald, Emma Oliver, Cameron Potts, Lydia Shaw, Rosie Williamson, Lizzie Wofford and Thomas Wright.

Freddie Tapner, who founded the LMTO in June 2016, said: "opera star, Charles Rice, to musical theatre fans - I know you'll fall in love with his voice, just as we did at LMTO HQ when we found him."

Camelot will be performed at the London Palladium on 6th October.
