Casting announced for Touching the Void West End transfer
Casting has been announced for the West End transfer of Touching the Void, an adaptation of the Joe Simpson memoir by David Grieg.
Directed by Tom Morris (The Grinning Man), Touching the Void is the first stage adaptation of Simpson's book, which tells of his ordeal mountaineering in Peru in 1985. Simpson suffered severe injuries including a broken right leg, and was thought to be lost after falling down a crevasse, but managed to crawl back to the safety of base camp.
Touching the Void has previously run a Bristol Old Vic, Royal & Derngate, Northampton and the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh, and transfers to the Duke of York's Theatre from 9th November.
Original cast members Fiona Hampton (Much Ado About Nothing, Shakespeare's Globe), Patrick McNamee (The History Boys) and Josh Williams (One Night in Miami, Donmar Warehouse) will reprise their roles of Sarah, Richard and Joe respectively.
They will be joined by Angus Yellowlees, who makes his professional stage debut as Simon.
Touching the Void is at the Duke of York's Theatre from 9th November to 29th February.
Touching the Void tickets are available now.
